The design of portable energy storage power supplies relies primarily on battery energy storage, power conversion, and intelligent control technologies to convert stored direct current (DC) into the alternating current (AC) or DC required by user devices, thereby providing mobile power. The core objective is to deliver stable, reliable power to devices such as mobile phones, laptops, lighting, small appliances, and outdoor equipment in environments lacking a fixed power source. These units typically comprise an energy storage battery, a battery management system (BMS), an inverter module, a charging module, output interfaces, and an intelligent control system; these components work in concert to manage energy storage, conversion, and output.
The energy storage battery is the core component of the unit, responsible for storing electrical energy. Most portable energy storage devices on the market utilize lithium-ion or lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries as their storage units. Lithium iron phosphate batteries, in particular, are widely used in medium-to-large portable storage products due to their high safety, long cycle life, and excellent thermal stability. The battery stores energy by converting electrical energy into chemical energy via electrochemical reactions and releases it by converting that chemical energy back into electrical energy during discharge. Battery capacity directly determines the unit's runtime, while battery voltage and discharge performance influence its power output capabilities.
The power conversion system is crucial for enabling the unit's diverse power supply functions. When AC output is required, an internal inverter converts the DC supplied by the battery into AC that meets device specifications-such as standard 220V AC. Additionally, these units are typically equipped with USB ports, DC output ports, and vehicle power sockets to directly power various types of devices. High-performance models employ efficient inverter technology to minimize energy loss during conversion and maximize overall energy utilization, while voltage regulation ensures a stable output voltage.
