Adhering to proper storage standards for solar panels (photovoltaic modules) is crucial for maintaining their performance stability and extending their service life. Improper storage conditions-whether during transport, prior to installation, or during periods of temporary disuse-can lead to moisture ingress, breakage, or deformation, potentially compromising future power generation efficiency. Therefore, effective management based on product characteristics and environmental conditions is essential to ensure the modules remain in optimal condition, thereby guaranteeing successful installation and reliable operation.

 

Photovoltaic panels should be stored in a dry, well-ventilated, and clean indoor environment or a protected area, avoiding prolonged exposure to rain, direct sunlight, high temperatures, and humidity. The storage site must be kept away from corrosive gases, chemicals, and flammable or explosive materials to prevent damage to the module surfaces and internal structures. Additionally, the warehouse floor should be level and dry; pallets or support pads should be used to elevate the modules off the ground, preventing moisture damage to the packaging or the modules themselves caused by damp flooring.

 

Stacking and handling operations must strictly adhere to the packaging specifications. Modules should generally be stored horizontally or in the manner prescribed by the manufacturer; stacking at an angle or placing heavy objects on top of the modules is prohibited to avoid glass breakage, frame deformation, or damage to the solar cells. During handling, modules should be treated with care-avoiding collisions, drops, and violent vibrations. Large modules, in particular, should be handled by multiple people to prevent bending or internal micro-cracking caused by uneven stress distribution. Furthermore, the original packaging should remain intact, and protective materials should not be removed prior to installation.

 

To ensure long-term performance, the stored modules should be inspected regularly for issues such as damaged packaging, moisture ingress, surface stains, or mechanical damage. For extended storage periods, organized management and record-keeping are necessary; modules should be arranged according to production date, model, and specifications to facilitate future use. Only through compliant storage and management can the risk of damage be effectively minimized, ensuring that the solar panels function correctly after installation and deliver stable, efficient power generation.
